The Avorite job is a house for which Solid Foundation was the builder. We handled all site work including excavation, grading, footings, basement walls, slabs, driveways, and we are now starting the irrigation and landscaping.

The property needed extensive excavation work before construction could begin. Before starting the foundation, we had to over excavate about 30 feet down to hit rock. After excavation, the site was below the water table.

Surge stone choked with #57 gravel, covered with filter fabric.

We then hauled in 210 tri-axle loads of engineered structural fill dirt, per the direction of our on site geotechnical engineer, in order to bring the site up to grade. The design and work was monitored under the supervision of the geotechnical engineer during the entire hauling, spreading, and compaction process.

It was winter, so we were trying to beat the rain, working nights also.

Wetting the concrete just after it begins to set prevents premature drying before the chemical process is finished. If allowed to dry too quickly, the concrete will not be as strong and will crack.

  • This project involved replacing a storm water pipe under a driveway. The old metal culvert had rusted through, allowing the water to leak out and erode the dirt out from under the driveway.

The concrete drive in front of a dumpster at a strip mall had been damaged due to the heavy weight of the garbage truck. After removing the old, damaged concrete and poor sub grade, new rebar was doweled in and a stronger, thicker concrete was poured in. The new, beefed up slab will be able to withstand the stress under the garbage truck's weight.

  • A challenging sewer line replacement. It was 15 feet deep at the back alley where the lateral connected to the main.
